Tree of Life and SephirothSources
The kabbalistic Tree of Life bears ten Sephiroth, as the Numogram bears ten zones. The CCRU uses this kinship but reverses the origin, the Numogram does not descend from the Kabbalah, the Kabbalah is a scrambled memory of the Numogram. This cannot be proved, and that is not the point, the move lifts the system out of history. The Tree of Life is thereby the most visible of the borrowed parallels. The origin is external, the reversal a rhetorical positing that the Critic names as such. (C borrowed · Sources)

I Ching
The Chinese book of changes, whose order the CCRU claims as a forerunner. Its cycle coincides with the Time-Circuit, the six zones of the inner ring, which by continued doubling form a closed circle, one, two, four, eight, seven, five and back to one. Precisely here lies the one link to an old teaching that is not merely asserted but computed. Everything mythic in the Numogram rests on this small, hard sum. Further equations with the I Ching are correspondences, not proven identities. The origin is borrowed, the computing core computed. (C borrowed, with an A-core · Sources)

Legba
A figure of the threshold from West African and Afro-diasporic tradition, keeper of the crossroads and mediator between the worlds. The CCRU invokes her as an image of transition, of the point at which one system tips into another. She stands beside Dogon in the line of borrowed sources that charge the cosmos with African and diasporic material. The appropriation is delicate and takes hold of a living religious figure for an invented system. The origin is external and is placed in the Critic. (C borrowed · Sources)

Necronomicon
For the CCRU the matrix in Western hyperfiction, a book laid back from the future into the past. Lovecraft invented it as a prop, the CCRU reads it as an early case of hyperstition, a fiction that unfolds real effect. It is thereby no horror motif but a model for the group's own procedure. It joins the Pandemonium to the borrowed sources, for it stands in both places. It is posited, its citation is the Pandemonium. (B posited · Pandemonium, Sources)

Tarot
The card system of Western divination, whose order the CCRU invokes as a parallel to the zones. Like the Tree of Life and the I Ching it stands in the line of traditions the group reads as kindred, older forms of the Numogram. The kinship is a correspondence, not a proven identity. It serves the reversal of origin that places the Numogram at the beginning. The origin is external and is placed in the Critic. (C borrowed · Sources)

Theosophy
The teaching of Helena Blavatsky, through which a large part of the loaded material found its way to the CCRU. From it comes the reading of Lemuria as the home of a third root race, a pseudoscientific grading of humanity into higher and lower races that is deeply racist. The CCRU reaches for this material deliberately, because it is dark and loaded, not because it is true. This origin no one may conceal, and the sources page names it openly rather than adopting it. It is borrowed, its weight is placed with emphasis in the Critic. (C borrowed · Sources)

Tic-Systems
Barker's cryptographic frame, in which patterns are read without interpretation. It treats signs as traces one deciphers, not as symbols one construes. It is thereby the formal side of Anorganic Semiotics and a link to Barker's early career as a cryptographer. Out of it comes the Tic-Xenotation, the notation without a modulus. It is posited, its citation is Barker Speaks and Fanged Noumena. (B posited · Barker)

Tic-Xenotation
Tic-Xenotation
A modulus-free notation that builds numbers without remainder from a single doubling sign alone. It begins at two, the tic doubles, the implex leads to the next prime, the deplex reaches zero and one. It thereby thinks number differently from the place-value system, which rests on a fixed modulus. It belongs to Barker and joins his doctrine of number to the pure arithmetic of the Numogram. Its mark lies between computed and posited, the citation stands in Tic-Talk. (A computed and B posited · Barker)

Tree of Life and Sephiroth
The kabbalistic Tree of Life bears ten Sephiroth, as the Numogram bears ten zones. The CCRU uses this kinship but reverses the origin, the Numogram does not descend from the Kabbalah, the Kabbalah is a scrambled memory of the Numogram. This cannot be proved, and that is not the point, the move lifts the system out of history. The Tree of Life is thereby the most visible of the borrowed parallels. The origin is external, the reversal a rhetorical positing that the Critic names as such. (C borrowed · Sources)

Decadence and Subdecadence
The game from which Barker draws the spiral over the Numogram. It supplies the figure in which the demons appear as stations of a curve from inside to out. It is thereby the source of the Barker-Spiral and a link between Barker and the Pandemonium. The name carries the colouring of decay that grounds Barker's whole doctrine. It is posited and comes from the Writings. (B posited · Barker)

Captain Mission
A pirate around 1700, founder of the half-legendary colony of Libertalia, whom the CCRU makes into a figure of a time outside the order. Through Burroughs he enters the cosmos, as the image of a utopia that withdraws from straight time. He stands on the side of Lemuria, against the calendar of the AOE. Historically he is barely graspable, which only makes him more usable for the CCRU. His mark lies between posited and borrowed, because he comes from a real tradition and carries an invented role in the system. (B posited and C borrowed · Time War)

Chaim Horovitz
An invented figure who performs for the mysticism of number the same shift Stillwell performs for the Numogram. The CCRU ascribes to him the unearthing, from a Mu-Archive in Tibet, of an original decimal qabbala. Against this decimal proto-form the received, letter-bound qabbala is only a mutilated remnant. His function is delicate and precise, he shifts the origin of the doctrine of number from the attested text onto an invented find. He is posited and belongs to the circle of the borrowed sources. Echidna Stillwell
The invented ethnographer who passes off the Numogram as a find and not a construction. Her function is delicate and precise, she shifts the authorship of the diagram from the CCRU onto a supposed Lemurian tradition. In the papers she helped Barker read Freud against the grain, and so joined geotraumatics to the origin of the Numogram. She is the witness whose mere existence makes the system seem older than it is. She is posited and belongs to the circle of the sources. (B posited · Time War, Sources)

Peter Vysparov
The invented collector whose circle around Burroughs makes the link to real literature. Through him a real figure enters the fiction, and the border between the two turns porous. The Vysparov collection supplies the sources from which the Time War draws its tradition. He stands beside Kaye as part of the chain that binds the myth to real names. He is posited, his citation is the Writings. (B posited · Time War)
William Kaye
The witness of the Lemurian Time War and at once the most uncertain source. He concedes his own susceptibility to delusion, and that is no flaw of the narrative but its construction. To declare the sole source untrustworthy makes the narrative not weaker but hyperstitious, for nothing in it can be pinned down. Through him and Vysparov the myth binds itself to Burroughs and the circle around him. He is posited, his citation is the Writings. (B posited · Time War)
